Training for Today's Dogs

Special Classes for Special Dogs

Below are descriptions of classes that are offered far less often than I'd like.  There's Tricks and Games, for something lighthearted but very serious, there's Holiday Manners for those of use who are CERTAIN some sort of disaster will occur when Aunt Martha visits, and there's The Rules, for dogs who are new to living in a home or dogs that just ACT like they don't know how to live in a home!

The classes are 6 weeks long and cost $145.00  To see a schedule of classes, and/or to enroll, click here

Show Off! with Tricks and Games!

Here's a class that will give you something to brag about....

This is for dogs from 5 months and up, that have a good grasp of basic vocabulary: Sit, Down, Stay, Come, Front, Finish, and need something to do to keep their brains in order.  We'll do fun and practical tricks and learn games that will prepare them for behaving in the "real world".

We'll work with some basic agility equipment and learn proper jumping technique, a little dancing, a little Rally and some plain old-fashioned tricks.

In addition, we'll play some games based on Stay, to help build their skills (and yours!) no matter what's going on around them.

This class is great at duplicating real world situations and stresses, but it needs a big class...  thus the lower cost and higher number of dogs allowed in it.

Holiday Manners

This year, let Rover be a part of the festivities, with brand new, GOOD BEHAVIOR!

No stare-downs over a plate of food, no drooling on Grandpa's knee, no wild and dangerous greetings and above all, Rover won't have to be locked up to achieve this!

Holiday Manners is a fun class with special emphasis on having visitors into your home, at your table, sitting on your couch, all without them being jumped on, barked at, having their food stolen or finding your dog clearing the table!

We'll be working on all of the above, including long table cloths on tables we'll be sitting at, while the dogs hold a down-stay.  We'll introduce plates and silverware and eventually, we'll even have a bit of a party with the dogs on their best behavior!  People will walk around the room, carrying plates of food, unmolested by the dogs and sit at a table and eat without fending the beasts off!

Sure to be a blast, sign up quick!

The Rules

Designed for rescue dogs with little or no prior experience in a class situation, this class will focus on the "rules" for dogs in our community, such as...

Don't Jump on People

People who knock at the door are probably not the ones you need to be defending me from

Sit still and offer the top of your head when I allow someone to pet you

No stealing off of counters/tables/bbq grills/fill in the blank

No pulling on the leash

Lie down and be quiet, when I tell you to, even in the house.

No Potty in the house

and whatever problems come up from individuals during the class.  This is a fun class with a very serious purpose.
